  • Accessing His Glorious Riches

This is a story on how God paid off my car.

I have my car on 0% financing - that only happens if I sign up for 1 or 2 years to pay it off. It's not bad, but every month, half of my paycheck goes straight to the bank to pay off my car. Half of the remainder goes to tithes, the rest goes into gas, monthly payment to my parents, supporting my grandparents, car insurance, life insurance, retirement investment and offering. There's really not much left for entertainment...... or gifts......

When I first bought my car, I was barely walking with God. I didn't know who God is, all I know is that He is good. But after a year and a half, I learned that being a child of God, I should never borrow or owe money to anybody. It requires a lot of convincing myself that God has unlimited resources to finance, that I'm His child, and that He cares for me. Then God gave me Phil. 4:19. I always knew about Phil. 4:19, but it wasn't until early this year that I actually put the effort to meditate on it. I got the revelation that as long as I have Jesus in my life, God will supply all my needs according to HIS (not my) riches. What are His riches like? He started telling me that His riches are the heavenly riches - the best of the best... and it's unlimited. Whereas my riches.... ? Pretty pathetic compared to His. So we started talking some more....

I said to God, "Y'know, I'm your child.. why am I still paying for this car?"

God said, "You're not suppose to."

So I asked God to pay off my car. I didn't know how, other than using John 14:14 -"If you ask anything in My name, I will do it". I didn't know how God was going to do it because I didn't want to do more freelance. Since that prayer, I sorta left it alone and trusted God to provide.

2 months ago (which is about 6 months left to my car payments), I got a cheque that is more than enough to pay off my car and the insurance that I owe.

    How incredible is that???

I had 2 months to doubt God, but I didn't. Even though those 2 months, nothing manifested, my senses were telling me nothing was happening, I could've wavered in my faith but I knew God's Word is true. I convinced myself that God's Word is true, more true than the natural world around me. I was able to convince myself that God will pull through - but He can only pull through if I allow Him to. So that means, if my prayers weren't getting answered, it has to do with me. The same exact situation happened when I listed out all the things I wanted in a husband (about 20 of them, and it's pretty detailed stuff!) and prayed for it. About 6 months later, I met the man I know that I'm going to marry and he fits everything on my list. During those 6 months, I sworn off anybody who doesn't fit my list - even the ones that are pretty close but not really. I just knew God has someone for me that has every single thing I wanted.

Do you find yourself with unanswered prayers? I think the first few questions are, have you convinced yourself that His Word is true? Have you convinced yourself that God is good and He cares for you even though everything around you says that is not the case?

When you say you have faith in God, do you really have faith in God or is it just wishful thinking?

Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God - Romans 10:17.

If your faith doesn't come from the Word, then where does it come from?

Hopefully this will get some of you thinking! Trust in the Word, and things will start to change

I agree... wonderful testimony!  And I agree, God has provided for my family for the last year, despite some very difficult circumstances.  His grace truly is amazing.  Thanks for the uplifting post!

Hey, this was the topic for my last post. I didn't go into any details how God changed my life through prayer, but there are no words to describe how incredible He is. It's such a huge boost in your life when you KNOW you can trust Him.
"Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God - Romans 10:17. If your faith doesn't come from the Word, then where does it come from?"
This really speaks to me because I know so many people who attempt to pick-and-choose scripture to "believe in." One person that really comes to mind is my best friend from high school who can't really describe her religious affiliation. This is because she says she believes in God, reincarnation, heaven as a reward for deeds; she believes some of the Christian bible, but not all of it. In fact, she quoted Romans on her website, but for some reason she ignored Romans 10:17.
I have tried to talk to her about it, and I haven't given up on her. I know that she needs some guidance. I really appreciate that you've written this post because it reminded me that she needs so much more prayer.
I think some people believe that they do not need God to determine their beliefs. By doing this and circulating this idea they believe they are doing the world a favor and spreading peace and love, when really they are increasing confusion. I think it's interesting that some people feel that living a lifestyle "according to a book" is something that would be unrewarding and would suppress their freedom, when of course it does exactly the opposite (it frees you from the world). The bible in a way is like having a counseling session, where the goal is to make sense of your life, feelings, and direction.

@thereturnofspring - mmmmhmm! I know a lot of Christians who consider themselves to be spiritually mature just because they serve as leaders at the church yet they don't live according to the Bible.

You are right, it does cause a lot of confusion because they do not have a full understanding of the Bible so they compromise the Bible based on what "makes sense" to them and live according to that compromisation (if there's such a word).

Faith is not about making sense in anything, but that to trust in His Word. John 1:1 says that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The Bible we hold today is God Himself, yet a lot of Christians fail to see that.

Keep praying for your friend! You'll see wonders happening
